Thoughts From Pastors Across America, Part 1 I felt it was time to put together a list of all the comments I have written down over the last seven or eight years that I have had the pleasure and honor of talking with pastors from across America and Canada. Mostly I wanted to do this to try to bring them all into one file, rather then a whole bunch of different files on my computer, but then the idea hit me that I should publish these great comments, as many of them are just way to good to leave only on my computer and in my own mind. Because of the type of conversations that I have with pastors, and the fact that pastors I speak too understand I have a "zero naming" rule in my life and ministry, I have removed from the below comments who said each comment,... Read More & Post CommentsPerfect, Harry Kraus MD I rarely write reviews on books, but one of our very own, ChristianBlog.Com Member gracesurgeon has just published a new book that I have been long waiting for - "Perfect". The first thing I noticed was that this is another book with the "Kraus signature of medical realism" as Harry himselves puts it. Dr. Kraus (Harry Lee Kraus Jr., M.D. to be fully correct) is a surgeon missionary in Kijabe, Kenya. I have already read a number of his other books, including: "Stainless Steal Hearts", "The Stain", and "Fated Genes, so I was prepared for more of what I had come to expect from Harry - and he delivered! For those who have never read any of this books, and have never spent any time in the medical field, it can be hard getting use to the "Kraus signature of medical realism" because he does have... Read More & Post CommentsThe Wolf And The Church As one closes theirs eyes and gathers images about the wolf, from what they've been taught, what they've seen in pictures, and seen on TV, one usually only gets a glimpse of the reality of the life of the wolf, a reality not of truth but of that which man has impressed the animals to be. Some people see a playful and bouncy little cub and put that as their idea of what wolves are. Others see wolves as a strong and powerful animal that rules the forests and animals of the forest. Some see them as a snarling, saliva drooling, meat eating beast. And yet others see wolves as a nuisance to society. Whatever one sees when they close their eyes and think of wolves is probably wrong. Few people today have had the chance of seeing a live wolf in its own habitat.... Read More & Post CommentsOk, I'm going to be honest here.... I have NO IDEA how this blog should be categorized... but this is just amazing... Here's the situation: A Minnesota Catholic church has filed a restraining order against a family that was attending their church in an effort to stop the parents from bringing their "extremely disruptive and dangerous" autistic son to church. According to Rev. Daniel Walz of the Church of St. Joseph, 13-year-old Adam Race once struck a child during mass, nearly knocks elderly parishioners over when he hastily exits the church, spits and sometimes urinates in church and fights when he is being restrained. Walz said the church "explored and offered many options for accommodations that would assist the family while protecting the safety of parishioners. The family refused those offers of accommodation." On one hand I totally understand the position of the church... after all, the kid has gone... Read More & Post CommentsWhat will the church look like in 10 years? For each generation, what the church is today is no good. For my generation, "organized religion" is becoming more and more undesirable, and this can surely only increase for each generation after mine. As the world continues to spiral faster and faster, organized religion is doomed greater and greater without a major intervention, and thus the church itself. Personally, I am tired of Programs. I don't want any more new theologies. I don't want to be preached at with sermons that were barely relevant 30 or 100 years ago. I don't want the same old things rewrapped in a new package. Surely somebody, some pastor somewhere, can find something of value with the Great Book, and find a way to make it relevant to me, one would think? As for the generations following me, it will only get worse. They will... Read More & Post CommentsFeatured Blogs: Featured Blogs are the latest feature we are developing here at ChristianBlog.Com! Read More & Post CommentsOk, so most of us probably remember hearing in the news (or those of you across the pond got to experience first-hand) that an undersea cable got cut... and then a second one got cut. Needless to say, the conspiracy theorists went crazy over this whole issue. First is was the usa military purposely cutting them to cover up a special-ops mission, then it was the usa cutting them to cover up sensitive intel, then it was Russia trying to make a statement and getting back into the spotlight as they try to "claim" Antarctica, then it was back to the USA and more cover-up due to the Afgan/Iraq war. So then, here a couple days ago, I was over at NationalTerrorAlert.Com a they posted a newsarticle with some expinations. Apparently, two ships, the MV Hounslow and MT Ann, were rounded up back in February by the UAE police and... Read More & Post CommentsGreetings All, Yesterday I spent a good amount of time writing up some helpful tips to different members of ChristianBlog.Com on how to become more proficient bloggers, gain a bigger audience, properly format their blog entries, helping to keep readers attention, trying not to loose readers attention, and the biggest of all, not offending your readers. For the most part, most of what I shared with our members went over really well. Sadly a few of them took my tips as criticism, but I suspect that is something that one will always face in helping others. Except for those few who did take my comments as criticism, they all suggested to me that I post all of my thoughts into a blog entry for the general public. So, here is a result of yesterdays tip-sharing! Without a doubt the biggest complaint we here is when people do not use paragraph... Read More & Post CommentsGreetings To All. The past few months have been an interesting experience for many of us here at ChristianBlog.Com - from myself as the owner of the website, to some new experiences for our Moderator Team, to a huge surge in overall new members (welcome to all the new folks out there), to some interesting challenges to our policies behind the scenes, to some interesting challenges to our policies by our members, to loved ones lost, and new loved ones added to our families (congratz baim), to a restructure of some of the overall design of the website, a huge change in our website navigation system, and much more I could talk about. A Look To The Recent Past: In the last part of December of 2007 I posted two blogs in which I felt lead to share with the ChristianBlog.Com Community a number of issues that had really been...
